The CHAMP project will summarize the available evidence, as well as assess expert opinions and views of professionals and patients on activities that aim at a rational and cost-effective use of antibiotic management of respiratory infections in primary care. In order to do this literature reviews are performed as well as surveys among experts, medical professionals and patients. Also analyses of the cost-effectiveness of the different interventions that aim to improve antibiotic use are performed. Based on the information that is gathered and analysed a best-practice intervention will be developed. The last year of the project will be spent on a study on the implementation and feasibility of this best-practice intervention. The results of the CHAMP project will be communicated with the scientific community and European and global health authorities.
